ARA Projects
 

As the raptor specialist group of Birds Australia, the ARA initiates raptor research and conservation activities and is often called upon to undertake such projects by government and non-government organisations. Listed below are links to both completed past projects and those current or ongoing .

  • V.P.P A long term population study involving banding Peregrine Falcons across Victoria.               
    C.I Raptors A community awareness raising project about the conservation of tropical rainforest raptors on Christmas Island.
    Barking Owls Population study involving trapping and banding of adult Barking owls, initiated by Rod Kavanagh.

  • CI Goshawk The first stage of a longer term population study involving colour banding Christmas Island Goshawks.
    Rabbits&Raptors Raptor population study in the Strzelecki Desert (1996-2001)
    BOP Watch Vehicle based surveys of raptors along roadsides.
    Owls 2000 The ARA hosted the 2000 World Working Group conference on owls at the Australian National University in January 2000.
