Ian Falkenberg (South Australian ARA Representative) successfully initiated and received some funding (in part from the RCD Commission) to conduct surveys of raptor breeding activities in a 200km² area along the Strezlecki Creek system and associated floodplain environments in the semi arid zone of north eastern South Australia. This study involved ARA volunteers spending ten days surveying for raptor nests in September and again in later October each year from 1995 until 2001. It is the only long term study conducted into the effects on raptor species by the loss of rabbits due to Rabbit Calicivirus Disease.
